Home for Sale in Holly Forest I

October 18th, 2019

I was blessed this week to spend some time with the owner of a home for sale in Holly Forest I.  More often than not, I am on my own when I visit these homes in search of new owners.  That is generally a good thing: I can wander through, then sit down, close my eyes, and envision myself and my extended brood living and visiting in the home.  However, this time was very different.  I saw living here through the eyes of someone that does live here, and it is a thing to behold.  This woman truly loves and cares for this place, feels a stewardship toward it, and wants to see the house in the hands of “someone that will love being here”.  It isn’t that she wants to leave, but as we all know, life dynamics change, and sometimes circumstance changes must follow.   Come along as I share this tour with you.

I turn into the drive and immediately note the fall flowers in the beds and pots.  The leaves are changing and adorning the trees in autumn’s finery as they do this time of year.  I see stone steps as part of paths that crisscross this property.  One such path goes up the hill, and I note chairs by the path.  I learn later that it is a perfect place to enjoy a cup of coffee while admiring a view of the mountain top.  I have also noted that, while convenient to Highway 64, there is no road noise; it is perfectly quiet save for the breeze rustling through the trees.

Making my way to the front door, I am greeted by this gracious woman welcoming me into her home.  She is aided by a sweet bundle of golden retriever.  I admit it…my heart has melted and I have a newfound friend.  He gives me a kiss though I have arrived totally “treatless”.  The mistress of the home suggests that our first stop be the back deck; therefore, we make our way through the house and out to the rear of the property.  The rear deck gives me an almost bird’s eye view of the back yard, and it is clear this is one of her favorite places.  Without ever leaving the deck, I can clearly see my grandchildren and great-grandchildren playing here.  As she describes to me how this has morphed through efforts of the family from a brushy, almost uninhabitable area to a child’s (and, yes, a golden retriever’s) dreamscape, I can visualize it.  There are two streams here, a footbridge across one.  Paths wind through native flora.  What a wonderful place for an old-fashioned game of hide-and-seek!  I am told that deer often walk along the streams.

Back inside, I admire a kitchen with new stainless appliances and plenty of cabinet and counter space.  There is a pantry for storage.  I know I could enjoy preparing meals here.  The dining area looks onto the deck and the backyard beyond through glass doors.  Adjacent to the dining area is a family room with a Vermont wood stove.  I contemplate family gatherings here; one can almost hear the laughter.

As we make our way to the stairs, we stop by the living room.  There is a lovely fireplace here.  I am thinking of curling up in one of the chairs with a book, when she says it is a great room for reading.  I also learn it is a perfect place for playing board games with children.  Oh, how I long for those days again!  Memories flood back to me, and I am awash in nostalgia.

Upstairs is a master suite with private bath, two guest rooms, another full bath, and a bonus room.  Think home office, extra sleeping space, hobby room.  Oh, the possibilities!

My hostess is right; this home, along with the lovely grounds that span a double lot, needs and deserves someone to love and appreciate it.  They have done so much here to make this a place conducive to family fun and memories that will last a lifetime.  Is it possible this is just the place you and your family need to call home?  The Carolina Cone Team will be so happy to take you on a private tour.  Before you leave, close your eyes, take a deep breath, and you will feel the warmth of the love that has been put into this place.

Until next time, I remain your tour guide…

Spacious Home for Sale in Holly Forest X

October 12th, 2019

Nestled at the end of a long private driveway in Holly Forest X is a spacious home for sale that blends in with its surroundings and makes you feel a part of nature.  As you come to the home, you realize immediately that there are two means of entrance.  The attached double garage provides shelter in case of inclement weather and provides easy access to the home.  As you enter the garage, you realize it is oversized to provide additional storage.  (We all know about those seasonal things that take up room, but are so enjoyable when displayed.)  From the garage into the home proper, you will find a full bath, a family/recreation room, and a bonus room on this lower level.  The lower deck is partially covered and screened.  Stairs lead up to the main level.

Back out on the drive, you see the stone steps leading up to the front entrance of the home.  A foyer gives way to the great room, with its gleaming wood floors, and exposed beams.  A stone floor to ceiling fireplace is great for those chilly times in the mountains.  The kitchen is well equipped with granite counters, lots of cabinets, and stainless appliances for the enjoyment of anyone, whether you are an accomplished chef or just beginning to test the culinary waters.  There is room here for a breakfast table should you choose.  The dining room extends out from the house and has windows on three sides bringing the outdoors in.  There is also access to decks on either side of the dining room.

The split floor plan affords privacy for the master suite occupants.  The bedroom is generously sized and has a fireplace and deck access.  The bath features a soaking tub, walk in shower, double sinks, and a vanity table.  It gives way to a large walk in closet.

The other side of the great room features a full bath and two guest rooms.  One of the rooms has access to the upper level deck.  Both have plenty of room for guests.

Call the Carolina Cone Team for a tour of this home.  It could be just what you are seeking.  This would make a wonderful getaway, full time home, or vacation rental property.

Until we next go exploring…

Home for Sale in the Gentleman’s Farm Area

October 5th, 2019

One of the prettiest drives in the area, passing by waterfalls, ponds, and acres upon acres of Christmas tree farms, leads to a home for sale in the Gentleman’s Farm area of Breedlove Road in High Hemlock.  You almost want the drive to continue, but seeing this lovely home makes reaching the end of the journey worthwhile.

Upon entering the home, one is greeted by the fabulous great room.  To the left is the heart of any home (in my not-so-humble opinion), the kitchen.  Lots of cabinets, plenty of counterspace, nice appliances, and an island with a breakfast bar will make this a place to enjoy preparing meals.  To the right is the dining area, with plenty of room for a table large enough to accommodate family and friends.  On through into the great room, where you find a stone woodburning fireplace, as perfect for ambiance as it is for warmth, you are drawn to the view beyond the wall of windows.  It will literally leave you breathless, extending beyond peaks and valleys for miles.  You want to linger either here or on the massive deck beyond, but there is still a lot of this home that remains to be seen.

The master suite is also on the main level.  It is a large room, with windows that take advantage of that same view.  You imagine waking each morning to it, wondering what it will be, for those of us that have been here a while know that as seasons and weather transition, so shall this view.  Though it will remain ever dramatic, it will change from seemingly endless miles to a feeling of floating weightless in the clouds when they sink down and envelope the home, from an epiphany of not knowing there were so many shades of green to feeling awe at the fall palette of reds, golds, oranges, and everything in between that creeps from the mountaintops to the valleys below.

The upper level consists of a guest bedroom, a bath, a bonus room (Don’t you love that term? It just resonates with possibilities.), and a very large loft that has possibilities of its own.

The lower level has a guest suite, again with those stellar views.  The recreation room is replete with a generously sized wet bar, a stone gas log fireplace, and access to the lower covered deck, where you can sit back watching time pass as gracious birds defy gravity at your eye level.  I have to mention something that seems so very logical to me, though it isn’t seen that often.  This home has an outdoor staircase that joins the upper and lower decks…no need to go indoors to switch levels.

This spacious home has so much to offer that defies my meager understanding and use of the English language.  It feels as homey as a cabin, yet as comforting and relaxing as a four star spa.  Come see for yourself.  It may be just the place you could call home.  The Carolina Cone Team will be happy to take you on a private tour.

Until next we meet, I remain faithfully…

Whisper Lake Starter Home

August 24th, 2019

Nestled in the quiet community of Whisper Lake is a wonderful home that would be perfect for a getaway or for a starter home.  What’s more, it has a mountain view all year!  It’s not every day you find a view home in the price range of a starter home.  There is updated landscaping featuring native flora that will bloom early spring through summer, and the entire interior has been freshly painted.  The split floor plan has wood floors throughout.

Massive stones make the steps to the front of the home where an inviting front porch bids you welcome.  Inside, the living room features a ventless gas log fireplace and cathedral ceilings.  The eat in kitchen has granite counters, stainless steel appliances, and a kitchen island with a breakfast bar.  A pantry provides even more storage.  Just off the kitchen is the laundry room.

The master suite has both a garden tub and walk in shower.  Two guest rooms share a hall bath.

The open rear deck, accessed through the dining area, is the perfect place to enjoy the long range view of the mountains.  When I was there, the morning was a bit overcast, foretelling the coming rains.  The swirling clouds intermittently hid the mountaintops, giving them a mesmerizing, ethereal look.  It would be easy to sit down and enjoy a drink while studying that changing view.

If you are looking for a home for a vacation getaway, or maybe your first home, call the Carolina Cone Team today for a private tour of this one.  It may be just what you need.

Great home for sale in Deer Run!

April 1st, 2019

Behind the gates of Deer Run is a great home for sale!  This house makes use of every square foot of space and has lots of extras.  Come along with me and have a look through my eyes; I promise you will want to see it with your own.

You first notice the inviting rocking chair porch that greets you from the circular drive.  I step through the front door, and there to my right is my favorite room in almost any home…the kitchen.  This one does not disappoint!  One wall has windows that look onto the front porch and beyond to the lovely low maintenance front yard.   There are beautiful granite counters, including a breakfast bar, stainless appliances, and plenty of cabinets.  The island is beneath a pot rack that is positively begging me to cook.  I can smell the gumbo and homemade bread now.

The open floor plan gives way to the great room, with its wide plank wood floors, wood ceiling, and stone fireplace.  Merely open the sliding doors to expand the living space.  The large upper deck has its own fireplace.

The main level is also home to the generous master suite, with private access to the deck.  The suite includes double sinks, granite counters, a walk-in shower, and a soaking tub.  The window over the tub is made of etched glass, and justice is only done seeing it in person.

The wood plank floors continue downstairs, where I find a family room, two bedrooms, a bath, and a workshop.  Let’s not forget the lower level deck!  Call the Carolina Cone Team if you think you might like to see for yourself.

My impression of this house after my initial tour is that it is much larger than it first appeared.  That is true; however, it is also planned to use every nook and cranny.  There is plenty of storage in every part of the home.  When I was building my first home many years ago, my grandmother said, “Remember, you may have enough cabinets and closets for storage, but you will never have too many.”  I think Grandma would like this house as much as I do.  Who knows, maybe she was cooking the gumbo and bread I smelled earlier.

Until next time…

~AnnieB
