Starter Home-Rental Property

January 18th, 2018

A delightful little starter home is for sale in Sapphire.  This attractive house would also make a great rental property.  It has been recently renovated.

The home welcomes you immediately with a large covered front porch.  The foyer gives way to a generous living room that features wood floors.

Down the hallway I find the kitchen and dining area.  There are plenty of cabinets and counter space.  Just off the kitchen is a bonus room with a full bath that could be suited to your specific needs, be it extra sleeping space, a play room for the kids, or a hobby/exercise room.

The master bedroom has a ½ bath.  There are two guest rooms and another full bath as well.

The yard is almost level, rather unusual for this area, with a stream running across it.  The back yard is fenced, great for keeping young ones or four legged family members corralled.  There is a large storage building perfect for all your tools and lawn equipment.

Call the Carolina Cone Team today for a private showing of this or any property in this area.  They will be sure to find just what you are looking for.  Until we next meet….

New Listing in Holly Forest IX

January 8th, 2018

The New Year is off to a galloping start with the Carolina Cone Team.  We have a new listing in Holly Forest IX.  This home for sale on Trays Island Road has so very much going for it.  The circular drive makes for easy access and egress, and there is an enclosed double garage to shield you from inclement weather.  A security system is in place, so you have no worries at all when you are away.

Step up onto the rocking chair front porch and through the front entry with me for a quick tour…you’ll want to see this place for yourself.  Gleaming wood floors greet you as you step into the foyer.  To the right is the kitchen.  OK, we all know a kitchen is my go-to room, and I really like this one.  It is well organized with plenty of cabinets, lovely granite counters, subway tile backsplash, and a breakfast bar.  Why did I leave my cookery books at home?

Those wood floors continue into the great room, with its exposed beams and stone wood burning fireplace.  Encompassed here is also a dining area for those times when you want to sit down and enjoy those meals you’ve prepared.  This entire room is warm and welcoming, great for time with friends and family.  The upper level deck, accessible from the great room, extends the living area and overlooks the 17th tee of the Sapphire National Golf Course.

Twin master suites on either side of the great room are located on the main level.  One has both a walk-in shower and a jetted tub.  For convenience and ease of use, the laundry room is also on the main level.

Downstairs, an oversized recreation room is the perfect place for family entertainment.  The lower level deck, accessed from this area, is screened and has steps that lead to the back yard.  This is just the perfect place for relaxing while listening to the soft babbling waters of the stream that runs through this property.  There are two more bedrooms and two full baths also here.

Call the Carolina Cone Team today for a private showing of this wonderful home that is just waiting for a new family of its own.  We would surely hate for you to miss out on a home with so much to offer.

Until we explore again…

Have you considered a townhome?

December 6th, 2017

Do you love the thought of having a place of your own, but you aren’t fond of all the exterior maintenance?  Have you considered a townhome?  There is one in Sapphire that has all the extras one normally finds in a high end home, but someone else has all the hassle of exterior building maintenance and landscaping.

I located this end unit and walked in, noting a lovely kitchen on my right.  Since (if you have read these blogs before) you know how I love to cook, I walked right in and made myself at home.  There were an abundance of cabinets, lovely stylish stainless appliances, and beautiful granite countertops.  The open “window” looks into the dining area and living room, meaning you aren’t cut off from your family and friends if you happen to be in here preparing meals.

The dining and living rooms have tongue and groove ceilings.  A custom stone fireplace is the focal point of the living room.  I walk through this lovely room and open the back door to the deck and find a view that takes me aback for a moment.  Views like this are normally reserved for upscale luxury homes.  I can see in my mind’s eye the revolving views as the season’s change.  There is a soft breeze blowing out here that makes me want to stay, though I know this is not an option.

Back inside, I find the master suite.  This is a generously sized room with windows that have that same view I got from the deck.  There is also another stone fireplace.  The bath features a granite top vanity, a large soaking tub, and a tiled shower.

There are two guest bedrooms with a “Jack-and-Jill” bath, granting plenty of room for family and guests.  Ownership includes the Sapphire amenities.  Golf courses, shopping, and dining are all nearby.  There is something for everyone.

Give a thought to ownership of a townhome.  This one is a gem.  Call the Carolina Cone Team for the chance to see it before it is gone.

Until next time…

Log Cabin For Sale

November 29th, 2017

Nestled in the quiet subdivision of Whisper Lake is a log cabin for sale that has a lot of features you might not expect in a house this size.  Come with me as we take a tour.

My first “wow” at this home was the water feature.  There is a lovely stone recirculating pond and waterfall at the back of the house at the edge of the lower level deck.  How relaxing!  And to enjoy it in comfort, there is a screened porch with a bar and grill.

Of several entrances to the home, I chose the lower level for no reason other than it was the closest.  I find myself in the family/recreation room.  Next to it is a large laundry room, as well as access to the attached garage with workshop area.

Upstairs, I enter the great room, and what a spacious room it is!  Wood floors, soaring wood cathedral ceilings, a wall of windows, and a floor to ceiling stone fireplace all serve to make you feel welcome and warm.  There is a loft for overflow sleeping or whatever you may need.  There is access from this room to the lovely large upper level deck.

The kitchen is set up for efficiency and extends into a dining area.  Also located on the main level are the master suite and two guest rooms.

What are you waiting for?  Call the Carolina Cone Team today for a private showing of this log cabin that would be great for a year round residence, vacation home, or a rental property.

Until next we meet…

Three Story Home for Sale

November 16th, 2017

Nestled at the end of a cul-de-sac in the quaint subdivision of Sheepcliff Woods, is a three story home for sale that is just waiting for a new family to move in and make memories.  I think one of my favorite things about this house is the windows…lots and lots of windows.  They almost bring nature inside.  With more than 2.5 beautifully wooded acres for the home site, there is plenty of nature to enjoy just outside your door.

The spacious great room features a gas log fireplace and wood floors.  French doors open onto the large partially covered deck, where you can sit and relax, enjoy your meals al fresco, or expand your space for entertaining.

The kitchen and adjacent dining room are perfect for preparing and enjoying meals at home as you gaze out the windows.  The blues of the tile backsplash in the kitchen reminded me of the Carolina skies.

Upstairs is a generous master suite with a private open deck.  The master bath features both a jetted soaking tub with a window view and a walk in shower.

The lower level of the house is made up of the family room with a fireplace, two guest rooms and a full bath.  There is a covered deck on this level as well.

The layout has plenty of room for family or guests, yet also affords privacy.  The attached double garage means that you don’t have to worry about getting out in inclement weather.  There is so much potential for this house.  Call the Carolina Cone Team today for a private showing.  See if this is the place to make your memories.

Until next time, I remain…

Lovely Cottage for Sale

October 26th, 2017

Between Highlands and Cashiers, in the quiet subdivision known as Silver Slip, is a lovely cottage for sale replete with country charm.  This home is on more than an acre of nearly level land, quite unusual for this part of the world.  I stepped from the front porch into a welcoming foyer.  To my left was the living room.  A wall of windows brings nature inside.  Opposite is a stone fireplace, and I am imagining a good book and warm drink in the winter.  The cathedral ceiling here features exposed beams, which along with the wood floors, serve to add to the ambiance.

The generous kitchen begs one to employ culinary skills, just as the dining room with its wood ceiling and exposed beams implores you to sit and enjoy the results.  Oh, yes, I am already in love with this home.

Three lovely bedrooms, including a luscious master suite, also grace this home, as does a generous laundry room.  The loft has endless possibilities from extra sleeping space to a reading room to a hobby space.  As I have wandered throughout this house, I could not help noticing there are multiple points of egress…many more than usual.  I wonder about that as I make use of one so I can see the fenced back yard.  I open the door, and there lies my answer.  There are so many doors because of what lies on the other side…

There is a large wrap around deck here, partially covered.  A hot tub on one end could be a lovely way to end a day of enjoying some of the hiking trails in this wonderful area we call home.  But the yard beyond…it is something to behold.  It is almost divided into areas as one would place individual seating arrangements in a large room.

My feelings as I wander remind me of the children’s book The Secret Garden, and the memories reading that book to my children and grandchildren created come flooding back to me.  This place has that magical feel to it.  There is a wonderful water feature.  Shall I relax be that or walk the path that leads to a stream that has a deck over the water.  Tea, anyone?  Or perhaps a game of hide-and-seek?   A picnic lunch?

Yet another surprise awaits me.  There is a beautiful mother-in-law suite with its own private entrance.  This would work equally well for guests without foregoing anyone’s privacy.

This place will take you unawares.  Make an appointment to see it.  You won’t regret it.  Its magical feel may convince you that you are home here.

Until next time, I remain…

Holly Forest I Home for Sale

September 6th, 2017

Tucked away in Sapphire Valley is a Holly Forest I home for sale that is a rare find.  I pulled up and noticed immediately the nearly level driveway.  There is a privacy hedge along the roadside that, as I exited my vehicle, gave me the feeling of being far from town, although I knew there were neighbors relatively close by.  I noted a detached two car garage, a plus for anyone, but a major plus for those of us here year round.

Walking up the steps there is a sweet veranda (Now there is an out-of-vogue word for you, courtesy of my very “deep south” upbringing.) with chairs inviting me to have a rest and take time to listen to the gentle rain that is falling.  I am brought back to reality by the loud woof of what I can only assume is the head of my welcoming committee.  My tours of these homes is mostly solitary, leaving me to imagine what it must be like to inhabit each of them.  Not so here…I am greeted with a loud invitation to play…after all, a little drizzle never hurt anyone.

Inside,  to the right of the entryway, is the kitchen.  With a window looking into the front yard and plenty of cabinets for storage, I can definitely see myself in here.  Although not large, it isn’t at all cramped and is well organized.

The great room features a fireplace and warm wood floors.  The glass doors open onto the large screened porch.  This is definitely a great space,  up in the treetops, where you can enjoy all the sounds of nature.  The door at one end leads to an open area of the deck.  Depending on weather, one of these two outdoor living spaces would be a great place to savor a meal prepared in the aforementioned kitchen.  About this time, my canine tour guide points out that it is also a great place to play with stuffed toys or get a belly rub or chin scratch.  This place is certainly leaving me smiling thus far.

The home features a split floor plan, and I head to the master suite.  It is a good sized room with windows that offer a view of the treetops and the screened porch.  Across the great room there are two guest rooms and another bath.  All bedrooms on the main level is not something seen every day in this area.

The stairs in the great room lead to a lower level.  This is an area with possibilities limited solely by your imagination.  There is a full bath, so consider it for additional sleeping space.  The glass doors lead to a lower covered deck, suggesting perhaps a family/game room.  Personally, I thought immediately of quilting and music.  You just need to see what the room suggests to you.

Call us today for a private showing.  You might even get to meet my tour guide, although he doesn’t come with the house.  Meanwhile, I think perhaps a game of fetch in a gentle rain may be just the thing to end this visit…

Home for Sale in Cross Creek Preserve

August 2nd, 2017

Turn off Highway 64 East and follow the peaceful country road to Cross Creek Preserve, a community located between Cashiers and Highlands.  If you think it is a pretty drive to this point, come along a little farther with me, through the gates of this beautiful area.  Cross the covered bridge and follow the road into this wonderland on Yellow Mountain.  Marvel at the meadows and creeks, keeping an eye out for a glimpse of wildlife. Then, as you round the bend in the road, catch your breath at the vista before you.  Like me, you might find yourself taking your time getting to this house.  The trip alone is worth the time.

Suddenly, there it is.  I pull into the circular drive and stop at the steps to the inviting front porch.  It is quiet here…no traffic noises to disturb my reverie.  I am debating whether to go inside or wander the grounds first.  I opt for inside; the house is splendid, but I am thinking of how nice it will be to walk outside or sit on the porch for a time.  A quick tour of the house and I can do just that.  Entering the front door, I realize that I am mistaken.  This won’t be quick.  I am taken aback immediately by the details in this wondrous room.  Massive log columns, a stone floor to ceiling fireplace, wood floors, a wooden spiral staircase to the loft, and an astonishing view through a wall of glass at the rear of the room leave me static for a few moments.  I really want to see the rest of this house!

For those of you who have followed my explorations, you have to know the next room on my list…of course, the kitchen.  It is to my right, and it is only a minute (a very short minute) before the call of culinary creativity is resounding in my head.  This is a wonderful, warm kitchen.  There are granite counters, lots of cabinetry, great appliances, and a work island.  Ummm…I close my eyes and smell my spice cabinet.  Kitchen smells always bring my family close, although I’m not sure whether it is hunger or curiosity.  It doesn’t matter; their smiling faces are there.  Good times, good memories, a good place for both.

I find the master suite on this side of the house.  It is a lovely suite that speaks of peace and relaxation.  There is access to the deck, where I am sorely tempted to venture, but I need to stick to my objective and see the rest of this house.  Back in the great room, I climb the spiral staircase.  The loft looks out over the great room.  There is also a guest room and full bath.  Back down the stairs, I find a second master suite, almost a mirror image of the first, that also has direct access to the deck.  Next comes another guest suite.  Family and friends won’t feel cramped with all this room.

I can stand it no longer; I must see the deck.  Once more, I am not disappointed.  This large outdoor living space is divided into three sections, with the ends being open.  The center is screened, with a cathedral ceiling and another stone wood burning fireplace.  Then, as I look out over the yard, I see the timber lined trails leading through the property.  I am going for a walk.  Until we meet again, I remain…

Home for Sale in Highlands Springs and Falls

June 29th, 2017

There is a home for sale in Highlands Springs and Falls that will have you doubting your proximity to town.  While only minutes from downtown Highlands, this area is peaceful, without the hustle and bustle of town during peak tourist season.  The grounds are so inviting that you forget as you go down the drive you are looking for the house.  My initial thought was, “Where’s my picnic basket?”  The landscaping blends beautifully with nature.   I park next to the enclosed double garage and make my way down the walk to the main entrance of the home.

Entering the foyer with gleaming wood floors, I see a formal dining room to my right and a generously sized living room to my left.  I opt to go upstairs first, where I find a large master suite with his and her closets.  There are also 3 guest rooms and guest bath.  There is a bonus room over the garage that lends itself to all sorts of possibilities.

Back downstairs, I find a den with a gas stove for those chilly evenings.  (The wood burning fireplace has been rocked in, but could be opened back up if new owners prefer a wood fire.)  The kitchen has beautiful granite counters and lots of cabinets plus a pantry for storage.  The breakfast nook has bay windows that look out over the spacious back yard.

Back yard?  Uh oh, I’m thinking again of the picnic basket.  Out I go to explore!  The large back deck is itself a great outdoor space, but down the steps is one of the nicest yards I’ve seen.  There is flat, yes flat, back yard! In my mind’s eye, I see my grandchildren playing croquet, badminton, or football.  There is the sound of water running in the stream and the lush foliage around the pond.  “Oasis” is the word that comes to mind.  A lovely little building (think potting shed, storage, a little girl’s playhouse) is tucked into the rhododendron.  Talk about spectacular when in bloom!

The possibilities are endless here.  Call the Carolina Cone Team today for a tour.  They will be happy to answer all your questions.  Until next time, happy house hunting!
