Central to the community, the 21,000 square foot clubhouse features a fabulous dining room with cathedral ceilings, lounge and bar area, outdoor terrace overlooking the putting green and pro golf shop. Resting on the plateau of Owl Gap Mountain is the premier gated community of Highgate, a private oasis reminiscent of historical Adirondack mountain communities. Home sites were developed with carefully selected guidelines and unsurpassed architectural style, setting the tone of mountain elegance and ensuring visual harmony. Throughout the community are homes of distinction constructed with a variety of materials, including cedar shake, bark siding, metal, native stone, rough-sawn clapboard and reclaimed barn wood. Every effort was made to preserve the natural beauty of the mountain by choosing a variety of native plants and trees for landscaping throughout the development.

Highgate is divided into two sections, Grayrocks and The Hemlocks. Grayrocks has only eight luxurious homes poised at the summit of Highgate at an impressive elevation of 4,500 feet. The name was inspired by the massive outcropping of moss-covered rock seen at the entry. The Hemlocks is located in the center of Highgate. The road winds through mature trees to 13 distinctive homes, with each property backing up to a winding road, rock wall and spring fed pond. The area is landscaped for both privacy and aesthetics. Highgate homeowners enjoy beauitful vistas in a close knit neighborhood, perfect for year round living or seasonal living.

Highland Gap

Conveniently located on the Atlanta side of Highlands, the private community of Highland Gap features flowing streams, sparkling waterfalls and gorgeous mountain views. Highland Gap is spread on the top of a mountain ridge and has some elevations up to 4,000 feet, assuring privacy and cool temperatures. Friendly neighbors and an authentic North Carolina mountain feel make Highland Gap a very special place to call home.
